You can choose your pediatrician before your baby is born, and it's the easiest thing on the list to get done early. In Lawrenceville since 2010, still independently owned.
The first visit comes early
Most newborns are seen within a few days of leaving the hospital — often around day three or four, a few ounces lighter than they went home.
Half of what happens in that appointment is really for you. Weight and feeding, yes — and also whether you're sleeping, whether it hurts, and what to do at two in the morning.
Register before the birth
It takes a few minutes, and it means the newborn appointment is a phone call rather than a form when you have a four-day-old.
Tell us your due date
We'll know to expect you, and you won't be starting from scratch in the week you have the least capacity for it.
Bring whatever you have
Insurance card, the discharge paperwork from the hospital, and any questions you wrote down at 3am. If something's missing, come anyway.
You will have questions. That is the job.
First-time parents tell us the same thing about this practice, over and over: nobody makes them feel silly for asking. Ask the one that's been bothering you — out loud, in the room.
