ABOUT THE PRACTICE

A practice built to a standard, and held to it since 2010.

Independent, in Lawrenceville, and carrying Gwinnett families from the first week of life to eighteen.

WHERE THE NAME CAME FROM

Where the name came from

People ask, so here it is plainly.

Dr. Una named this practice Ivy League because of what it was supposed to represent — the standard of care we provide, and the quality of the practice she was setting out to build. It was a bar to clear, set on the first day, before there was anything here to clear it with.

It was never meant to describe the families who walk in. Every child who comes through this door gets the same standard, on every kind of insurance we take, and that has been true since 2010.

What we're for

Expert medical care, and customer service that has no business being this good in a doctor's office. That's the whole of it, and it hasn't changed since 2010.

What it means in a room: you don't have to be confident about every part of your child's health. You have to be confident that you plus us can take great care of your child. Nobody here needs you to arrive informed, or calm, or with the right paperwork. Come with the question you've been embarrassed to ask for three months. That one is usually the good one.

We're also still independently owned — sixteen years in, no group, no chain, nobody upstream. That isn't sentimentality. It's the reason we get to decide for ourselves how long you wait, how long a visit takes, and who works here.

WHAT PARENTS TELL US MOST

We talk to your child, not just about them

This is the thing parents tell us most often, and it's the thing we hire for.

Your four-year-old gets spoken to, not spoken over. Your fifteen-year-old gets asked her own questions and gets to answer them. It sounds small until you've sat in a room where it doesn't happen — where a doctor talks past a child who is perfectly capable of describing what hurts.

The other half is you. Not instructions handed down, but a plan the two of us make, because you know your child better than we ever will and we'd be foolish to work around that.

None of this is a policy. It's what all three of our clinicians were hired for, and it's what they do when nobody's watching.

When you need us, there is room

Most practices treat access as whatever's left once the schedule fills. We built the schedule around it — the hiring, the systems and the staffing all pointed at one thing.

It took five years to build, and it's the part of this practice we're proudest of.

The door is actually open

We're accepting new patients on Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids, Peach State, Amerigroup and CareSource — not just accepting the card, accepting new families on it.

Roughly two in five children in Georgia are covered by one of those, and finding a pediatrician who is genuinely taking them is harder than it should be. We have room.

We also see self-pay families. That's normal here, not an exception, and it's worth a call so we can talk it through.

Meet the team

The founder

Dr. Nneka Unachukwu — “Dr. Una” — opened this practice in April 2010 and still owns it.

She no longer sees patients, and we'd rather tell you that here than have you work it out at a front desk. She spent five years deliberately building this place to run exactly the same way without her standing in it, so that no family here would ever be waiting on one person. Then she stepped back to homeschool her four children.

She doesn't run the day — the clinicians make the medical decisions and don't need her for that. But she owns the practice, she sets its direction, and there are three things she has checked every week for years: whether your child is getting expert medical care, whether this place still feels warm when you walk through the door, and how long the whole thing takes you, start to finish.

And the simplest thing she'll tell you: her own four children are patients here.

Things we'll tell you before you ask

Our patients are vaccinated.

We've put that here so no family finds out at the front desk.

There are plans we don't take.

They're listed by name on our insurance page rather than left for you to discover on the phone.

Our founder doesn't see patients.

Said above, and said again here, because it's the thing people are most surprised by.

We'd rather lose a booking on this page than lose your trust in a waiting room.

Sixteen years of Gwinnett families

4.5 stars from more than 800 parents on Google.

Named in Best of Gwinnett twelve years running — 2015 through 2026.

Families tell us how long they've been coming without being asked — since he was a newborn, now he's 11 · since my daughter was 1, she's now 6 · fifteen years. That's the number that actually matters to us.
